As I had mentioned in a previous post the art exhibit focused on 5 areas: Hauptcee, oil paintings, watercolors, thumbnail sketches, and the fifth, my second projected self-published ArtStory book.

One display wall will be devoted to showing all the pieces and parts that make up the progress of this second book.

To provide the funding for the printing cost I will again be undertaking a Kickstarter pre-order funding campaign. As with the first ArtStory book, ‘The Journey to Ukazoo’, part of the funding tier is an opportunity to have your name in the somewhere in the book. Install time.

Started Saturday by delivering some art to the gallery and for two hours started some area prep, preliminary wall measuring, and hanging of some art.

Sunday another delivery of art and 7 hours of more prep, wall measuring, and hanging art.

Nine of the 18 various-width walls are now in various stages art display. Shown are two of these completed walls.

Monday: pick up an order of prints and head to the gallery with more packed-up framed art and continue to get ready for Thursday’s art show.

The Thumbnails:

Wednesday: picked up 22 mats, mounted the 2.5” x 2.5” drawings to the mat with the Linen Hinging tape.

Thursday: washed/cleaned the 22 pieces of 5 x 5 inch glass, assembled glass/mats/backerboard, flat-nailed/wired and packed all 22 with 14 previous ones.

Thirty-six ready for Sat. delivery to gallery for next week install.

Made it to a paper, albeit local. ‘The Beacon’ highlighting what us seniors do, was kind enough to feature me in their ‘Arts & Style’ section.

While mentioning the artistic part, they also mentioned the galleries with my art (katsea gallery & Highlandtown Gallery) and gave equal space to the writing/self-publishing, social media and YouTube connections with sharing my art journey.

Plus a mention of the upcoming solo art exhibit at katsea gallery.

Watercolors for the show.

One of the courses I took during my return to Towson U. in ‘95 to obtain an Art Teachers degree was a Watercolor course.

Being relatively new to watercolor I had difficulty in applying watercolor in the traditional sense, wet on wet paper.

So I did it my way (sounds like a song, lol). Subject for project was a self-portrait. My attempt.

Some subjects relate directly to me while others, like the two in the upper corners reflect some of the subject matter I was creating that year.

This piece will be shown at my November solo exhibit as a way-back-when piece.

One month left to prep and finalize lots of art stuff and of course make cookies for my Solo Exhibit, Nov. 2nd opening at Katsea Gallery. Exhibit runs November 2 to Dec 1, 2023.

The exhibit will focus on five areas: there’s Hauptcee’s oil paintings, my oil paintings, the Thumbnail Sketch series, Watercolor/pen & ink works (shown in a historical context 1995 to newer works), and an introduction/display to my progress of my self-publishing a second ArtStory book.
