Made it to a paper, albeit local. ‘The Beacon’ highlighting what us seniors do, was kind enough to feature me in their ‘Arts & Style’ section.
While mentioning the artistic part, they also mentioned the galleries with my art (katsea gallery & Highlandtown Gallery) and gave equal space to the writing/self-publishing, social media and YouTube connections with sharing my art journey.
Plus a mention of the upcoming solo art exhibit at katsea gallery.
Thank you Beacon!
Craig L Haupt solo art exhibit at Katsea Gallery, Towson, MD
Nov 2 to Dec 1, 2023
Opening reception Thursday evening, Nov. 2, 5 to 8pm
One month left to prep and finalize lots of art stuff and of course make cookies for my Solo Exhibit, Nov. 2nd opening at Katsea Gallery. Exhibit runs November 2 to Dec 1, 2023.
The exhibit will focus on five areas: there’s Hauptcee’s oil paintings, my oil paintings, the Thumbnail Sketch series, Watercolor/pen & ink works (shown in a historical context 1995 to newer works), and an introduction/display to my progress of my self-publishing a second ArtStory book.
First up, by my fourth fictitious twin brother, a Hauptcee Haupt painting.
Besides the permanent historical displays at Waterbury, CT’s Mattatuch Museum, there are the featured artists. One room highlighted Andy Warhol’s 10 screen-prints of his commissioned Endangered Species project. ‘Sirius’ (snake & red leg) is by George Marinko. And two by Yves Tanguy, ‘Feu A Eclat’ (Mars) and I don’t have the title for the one with the Hammer.
I timed my five hour drive leaving Baltimore last week to have enough time for the journey’s first stop at the Mattatuck Museum, CT before closing.
A small but comfortable three floor museum. Two rooms held permanent displays that focused on important trades in Waterbury’s history: buttons and photography.
While the older wooden box camera’s were of historical interest, the button display was the most prominent. Three thousand buttons to view in glass cases with another 17,000 in sets of cabinet drawers around the room. Also shown is few of several button making machines.
As I get some SD cards and USB thumb drives ready for next month’s Sept. trip up to Conn. and upper New York state, I came across, on one USB drive, a photo from last year’s Maine trip.
A foggy morning walk along the lake, next to the inn I stayed at during the greater part of that trip.
And yes, as always, I will be taking up some segments of art projects along with the camera to work on in those quiet evenings.
