A slight change of plans. The “House That Jack Built” Solo Art Exhibit dates have been confirmed. This weeks ‘Post’ is appropriate as I ponder how I will sequence the next nine weeks of Monday ‘Posts’ leading up to the September “House That Jack Built” art exhibit/opening reception at Ukazoo Bookstore.

The initial plan is to complete the “Thumbnail Sketch” posts over the next six weeks, (of which there will new ones on display at the upcoming Sept. exhibit). The three weeks (Mondays) preceding the exhibit will then revisit/highlight the “House That Jack Built” painting.

“The Big Show”-A Group Art Exhibit

“Spare Button”: Watercolor/Pen & Ink on paper

 

This weeks ‘Monday Post’ highlights “Spare Button”, which I will be displaying at Creative Alliance’s annual member Art Exhibition “The Big Show”. Opening night is Saturday, June 27th at 6pm.

I have never posted this image before because of the exceptionally small detail, so along with the post of the image, I am also including three close-up sections of the “Spare Button”. To give a sense of proportion, the “Spare Button” image is 16” x 16” (405 mm) and each of the 48 houses are 3/4” (20 mm) in height.

For several years, way back in the 80’s, a recurring doodle were these faces. Of all the attempts to work these faces into a finished drawing, they were more at home in a “Thumbnail Sketch”.

The title is “Looking over my Shoulder”

“The Thumbnail Sketches”

Number Two

 

There have been a few “Thumbnail Sketch” subjects that have, over time, managed to find their way to a larger modified ‘finished’ drawing. This is one of those Thumbnail sketches.

The outlined box is 2 1/4” (56mm) square. The thumb outline measures 2” (51mm) from the bottom border to the tip of the thumb.
