12 + 12, 12 x 12’s-“Sorry” Progress Painting

Project: 12 + 12, 12 x 12’s by Craig L Haupt #4

Title-“Sorry”  Third sequenced post.

Posted is the “Sorry” painting in progress. The difficulty I am facing with this painting is the receding panels/borders. Shown is my third attempt to get a color I am satisfied with and for a third time, I am not satisfied. After this painting was photographed for this ‘Progress’ Post, I applied a fourth built-up and finally found colors for all three panels that I could accept. There will still be additional glazing layers to finalize the panels and the rest of the painting for next weeks “Finished Painting” Post.

The project will be posted in the following sequence, 1st Monday-the sketch/doodle or related source from whence the painting has originated.

The second Monday-the 12”x12” pencil worksheet showing the intended painting.

The third Monday-a progress post of the painting.

The fourth Monday-the finished painting.

Then repeat.

12 + 12, 12 x 12’s-“Sorry”-The Doodle

13 Sorry-Doodle

Project: 12 + 12, 12 x 12’s by Craig L Haupt #4

Title-“Sorry”  First sequenced post.

Posted is ‘The Doodle’, from Sketch Book One, December 2006. This selection is from the +12 portion of the project-Doodles selected by friends. This one was selected by Karen. She selected the ‘doodle’ number One for the three spheres and the shapes surrounding the top area of the spheres. Yet Karen also liked the long downward ‘leg’ shapes in the circled ‘Doodle’ number Two. I decided to incorporate both into the final painting.

How I resolved combining the two is on next Monday’s ‘Worksheet’ post.

A NOTE: The 12 people I selected for the +12 portion of this project were for several reasons, two are my sons, some, very close friends I have known for years, some, artists I have connected with over the years. Other variables such as time and place played a part with people I knew. There were only 12 selections I could make and there were many people I would like to have included in this project and my hope is that you don’t feel slighted in any way.

The project will be posted in the following sequence, 1st Monday-the sketch/doodle or related source from whence the painting has originated.

The second Monday-the 12”x12” pencil ‘Worksheet’ showing the intended painting.

The third Monday-a ‘Progress’ post of the painting.

The fourth Monday-the ‘Finished’ painting.

Then repeat.

“The House That Jack Built”-Week Nine

Tulips

“The House That Jack Built”

Week Nine-Intermission

A “Thank You” to all those that submitted suggestions of items to be included in the “Third corner” of “The House That Jack Built”.

As I have listed in the schedule, I am posting a past Art image, as an Intermission (this intermission I decided to have a strawberry crowned custard tart topped with a smidgen, or maybe a dollop, o.k., a scoop of whipped cream and a cup of tea) while I am selecting items to be used and applying them to the Third Corner Pen & Ink drawing.

The above Watercolor Painting is entitled “Tulips”. At the beginning of my oil painting phase, I tried to do “Tulips” as an oil painting, (tried twice) just did not know enough about how to work with oils to make this a successful painting. I opted to complete it as a watercolor. Maybe one day I might try to work it as an Oil, but I am very satisfied with the watercolor version.

The continuing posting schedule for the project is, as laid out:

Today,  Monday, August 11; An intermission, (post a past art image).

Monday, August 18; Repost the Third corner with added items.

Monday, August 25; Post the Third corner for suggestions of that area.

Continue the sequence, and end the project with the posting of the completed painting.
