“The House That Jack Built”-Week 32

Jack, Left segment

“The House That Jack Built”

Week 32-Jack-II

Moving Counter-Clockwise on the center motif, this is the second segment of “Jack”.

Whereas the first segment reflected Suburbia, this second segment reflects a rural view.

The oil paints are now wet in this section and after they dry, I will go back to brush in additional shadows, color variations in the trees, rework the picnic table behind the house, maybe even add an extra car/truck.

For size reference, the horizontal road measures 2 7/8” in length, the Covered bridge only 7/16 of an inch.

For a refresher or for those new to “The House That Jack Built” painting, see Week 16 & 17 for a view of the full “Jack” Four segment motif.

“The House That Jack Built”-Week 31

Jack, Top segment

“The House That Jack Built”

Week 31-Jack

First, I have secured a space and date for the display of the painting “The House That Jack Built”. I will, again, do a Solo Art Exhibit at Ukazoo Bookstore. Scheduled for the months of September/October. The tentative opening reception is Sept 12th.

It is a ways off, but the time works for completing other art images (both paintings and watercolor/pen & ink) and all the necessary framing in order to display a full Art Exhibit to complement the main subject, “The House That Jack Built”.

I have another Solo Exhibit in May, at the Laughing Pint Tavern (Highlandtown) but that is for Watercolor/Pen & Ink works only).

Back to the painting. “Jack”, the center motif, while a part of “The House That Jack Built”, is a separate painting of its own. Divided into four segments, each section will display a different aerial view. Working with the smallest of brushes and some assistance from a magnifying glass, it is best seen on-line as one section at a time and this week’s section (the top segment) reflects suburbia. For size reference, the horizontal road measures 3 3/4” in length, the vertical road 1 7/8”.

For a refresher or those new to the painting, see Week 16 & 17 for a view of the “Jack” Four segment motif.

As with the rest of the painting, once this portion of paint dries, I will be reworking colors, detail, adding shadows, any additional embellishments, etc.

“The House That Jack Built”-Week Eight

The House That Jack Built Third Corner

“The House That Jack Built”

Week Eight-Third Corner-Pen & Ink Image

The above Pen & Ink worksheet is the Third of the four corners open for suggestions of items to be included in the final painting. Anyone new to the “The House That Jack Built” please scroll back to Monday’s June 16 and June 23 Post for a description of this current project.

The guidelines for the “House That Jack Built” project:

If you please, just one suggestion per person for each corner, when posted.

At this Third corner, requesting suggestions of:

Things you see on the walls/ceiling and though-out a dining room.

or

Things you notice looking outside a window.

Here, I ask that you scroll back and notice how items were applied to the first two corners and then consider the type of item you suggest and how that might fit within the framework layout.

There are, again, no floors so items that rest on a floor i.e. tables, chairs, etc will not work.

There are only so many things/items that can be selected for inclusion to create an overall balanced final composition, and suggestions will come from different sources (Facebook, WordPress Blog, Google Blog, LinkedIn, etc.), so take no offense if yours is not chosen.

There is no compensation for suggestions used, but I will keep tab of the names offering suggestions directly to my post or to the “Shared” posts from wonderfully appreciated friends. At the end of this project I will “pull a name out of the hat” and send that person a signed, first print of the final painting.

The posting schedule for the project is, as laid out:

Today, Aug 4; Post the third corner for suggestions of that area

Aug 11; Intermission. Post a past art image.

Aug 18; Post the third corner with applied items from suggestions.

Continue the sequence, and end the project with the posting of the completed painting.
